Creating my own ceramic lamp has been my lifelong dream. Since time I can remember, I have always love anything ceramic. I am fascinated that these ceramic pieces were molded and formed by human hands. I suppose this all started since I have seen my cousin mold his own coffee mug. I have been asking him to give me a crash course on ceramic making but it is not something that can be learned easily. Ceramic making is an art. It is a gift which only a few people has. But I believed that if my cousin possesses the genes of an artist there is a great possibility that I have too. I almost lost hope after failing several times in my ceramic lamp project. But after reading a lot of ceramic making books and watching several ceramic making clips online, finally, I was able to create a ceramic lamp. It may not look as refined and as beautiful as the ceramic lamps at home but this is a good start for me. A few more practices on how to create ceramic lamps then I might open a store on ceramic lamps and anything ceramic.

Fulfilling your dreams does not happen overtime. It is the reality of life that we should learn to accept. You need to invest a lot on your time and effort. It also takes a strong motivation to make your dreams happen. Otherwise, your dreams will remain as dreams.

Technology may have made our work load lighter and faster. But it seems that no machine has been made yet to make ceramic-making any faster. If there is, the designs may not be as great as the ones made by hand.

How To Overcome Stress

 

Redecorating your house can be a great stress reliever. It is a productive way of unloading all the things that is bothering you. My cousin does it all the time every time something stresses her out. She rearranges all the furniture and cleans the house from floor to ceiling.  Even the lighting fixtures are clean. Now that she is sharing the house with me, everything looks clean and organized. I don’t need to hire someone to help me clean the house every weekend anymore. The problem is I don’t know where she put everything away. The tree trunk table lamp in my living room makes a great addition to my new home. This was an advance housewarming gift from my best friend who cannot make it on Saturday because of  a business trip abroad. She just ordered the ceramic table lamp online and have it delivered to my doorstep. I want to feel bad that she will not be around on that momentous day. But I know how important that business trip abroad is for her. She had been talking about it since I moved in to my new home. Had I told her earlier about the party, she might have second thoughts of going.

These are what experts call reclaimed lumber or processed wood which came from timbers rescued from old barns, factories and warehouses.

But what I love the most about the new lamp is that it is using LED bulb. From what I know, you have to request for LED bulbs. Well, she isn't my best friend for nothing.

Housecleaning is never fun. It can be tiring too. There are even times that we want to get away from it. But it is our responsibility to ensure that our home is clean everyday for our own safety. I suppose none of us would want to live in a place which does not only stink but is also covered in dust and garbage.

Hiring someone to clean the house is the best solution especially when you are too busy or too lazy to do it. I do that once in a while especially when all I want to do is relax in front of the television set. I just make sure that the person who cleans the house does not touch the ceramic lamps since I do the cleaning myself. Ceramic lamps are only cleaned by a dry cloth and medium 150 grit sandpaper. The dry cloth is for dusting and the grit paper is for removing fingerprints and smudges.  Cleaning solvents and liquid cleaners can do damages to the ceramic lamps. Since they are made from clay it will absorb the cleaning solvents or the liquid cleaners which will even worsen the markings. I used to have the hired help clean the ceramic lighting fixtures with the special instruction on how to clean the ceramic lights. Unfortunately, the person I hired to clean the fixtures was too engrossed in cleaning and forgot about the special instructions. 

Cleanliness is said to be next to godliness. Regardless, of our busy schedule, we should always keep our home spic and span. Some of us prefer sleeping with the lights on. Whiles others prefer to sleep in complete darkness and there are those who prefer sleeping with minimal lights on. At home we normally just turn off all the bedroom lights off but keep the sconce lights on outside our bedroom then keep the bedroom doors ajar. This way we can sleep comfortably at night as it is neither too dark nor too bright. We have this kind of set up since we were kids. We were watching too much horror movies back then which often give us a scare at night. But now that we are all adults we still keep the lights not because we are afraid of sleeping in the dark but because we are used to it. It is for safety reasons as well as there are times that we wake up in the middle of the night either to go to the rest room or get some water to drink.

Items that can be purchased online vary from food, clothing, furniture and fixtures, electronic appliances and even lighting fixtures.  This is how I got our ceramic lamps at home. As much as I love shopping, I hate carrying all the items I have bought especially those which are either heavy or fragile to carry. There had been several occasions where I accidentally broke a glassware or plate ware right after I bought them; those were supposed to be wedding gifts or birthday gifts.
