Global Warming And Its Solutions

Man's unquenchable thirst for knowledge, needs and wants have brought us great inventions and new discoveries. Some of these inventions may have brought us our doom. Yet there are inventions which have given us hope. It is just unfortunate though that million lives were sacrificed before we realize our mistakes and do something about it. However, most of our mistakes are irreversible. The only thing that we could do is to avoid further damage.

Global warming, the rise in the average temperature of this planet's atmosphere and ocean, is the result of man's irreversible actions which threatens the existence of all life forces here on earth. We are the ones who are bringing all disasters upon ourselves. Human activities such as deforestation, burning of fossil fuel, science experiments and inventions, and waste mismanagement are the main reasons why the occurrence of droughts, heatwaves, cold-waves, sea-level rise, infections diseases, earthquakes and floods and weather disasters all over the world are becoming more frequently. The recent one was the Oklahoma tornado and flash flood which has taken many lives and homes . There is also the threat of thinning ozone layer, a layer in Earth's atmosphere which protects us against the harmful effects of the ultraviolet rays coming from the sun, and the oxygen depletion. Perhaps this is the main reason why some organizations are working on a one-way trip to Mars.

We can neither stop the ice sheets in Greenland and West Antarctic from melting nor stop the ozone layer from thinning in the blink of an eye. Different organizations around the world are working to put a stop to global warming. The solutions for global warming include waste management, recycling, plant more trees, use of energy efficient light-bulbs in our indoor and outdoor lights, produce more renewable power sources such as wind and solar power system and use BIO fuels in our vehicles. Government and private sectors cannot save this green planet alone. They need our cooperation.
