Garage Sale For the Kitchen Project

We have been wanting to have our house renovated. As what I have mentioned in my previous blog, it badly needs remodeling and repair. Unfortunately, because of my overspending, we are living on a very tight budget so we really can't afford to do the house repair and remodeling at the same time. But one of my aunts suggested that if could buy the materials for the project one at a time or every pay day, then it will not be so hard for us. She also promised to help in repainting, redecorating and the installation of the lighting fixtures of the kitchen and other parts of the house once it is done. She also promised to give us the Barnesville galvanized antique pendant light which she purchased online a few months ago.

We were listening to her with our mouths open. It is a huge project. It also promised a huge hole in our pockets. I was already thinking of selling some of my good stuffs especially those I have purchased online just to add more to the kitchen project. I was also thinking of taking more work loads but I am not sure if I can manage. But knowing my aunt, she will do anything to ensure that the job is done and should be done based on her schedule. I decided sell my stuffs instead.

I never enjoyed garage sale especially if I am hosting the garage sale. I do not like people touching my stuffs regardless if they are up for sale or not. But then again, I need to give up something for the kitchen and house project. The garage sale was a success though.I have a portion of the money meant for the renovation and repair. Surprisingly, I didn't feel so bad about selling my favorite things afterwards because I know that the money will be used for something much important. Amazingly, my room looks much better and cleaner now without the clutter of the unimportant things which I purchased from my excessive shopping.

Partying At Home

Parties are always fun and less expensive when its held in the comfort of your home until one of your guests breaks one of your precious drinking glasses or one of your plates. Although accidents like this seldom happens but are you willing to take the risk? Moreover, partying at home can really be tedious especially after the party when you have to tidy up. For these reasons that most of us prefers hosting a party or a special occasion some place else such as hotels and restaurants. Holding a party at home is convenient but tiresome. You have to make sure that the house is clean of course. Ensure that all lighting fixtures such as the indoor and outdoor lights and bathroom light fixtures are all working especially if you are holding a dinner party. You have to prepare good music and board or parlor games. Stick to your original recipes or prepare the food ahead of time so you will have enough time to spend with your guest. But unless you are willing to do all these it is recommended that hiring a catering service is much preferable. 

The Gift Of Reading

Reading a good book has been my favorite hobby since time I can remember. I still have the set of bible books stories which my mom bought me. The set includes the story of David who in spite of his size has won against the giant Goliath, Jonah who was swallowed by the whale, my favorite which is the birth of our dear Savior in manger of Bethlehem, the story of Noah who built the great ark which protected him and his family and the thousand beasts which were gathered by pair of each kind, and the story of Adam and Eve. My mom and I used to read all five books together every night before going to sleep. Unfortunate, I do not have these books anymore. Years and months of reading the same books all over again may have brought the books to their end. They were later replaced with two more sets of Bible books which I still have until now and I have no plans of donating them yet to Farenheit 451 Books. But I have several paperbacks which I am planning to give away.

They have a huge selection of hard to find books, hardbound and softbound or paperbacks, fiction, non-fiction, novels and many others. They are also selling new, used and ancient books. They also specializes in book restoration and repairs. Unfortunately, the first set of Bible books I have are beyond repair and restoration. Moreover, they are also buying hard to find books.

There is nothing more fun than reading a good book. They will bring you to places you have never been to, introduce you to people you have never met especially those who are part of our history, stimulate your mind to think, informs you, improves your vocabulary, widens your horizon and teach you lessons or values.They are probably the reasons why my mom never complains even if I leave the 13 inched home sweet home ceramic table light on.

Religion And Me

 

Religion is one of the most sensitive topics and is often avoided. All of us are free to choose our religion. All of us may not share the same religion but we believe that there is a powerful deity or a supreme being who will save us all. 

I am born and raised a Roman Catholic. I grew up religious and was even schooled in a Roman Catholic school. I know that many Christian believers frown upon Roman Catholicism because of its "pagan practices", devotion and prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints and a long list of scandals. In defense to my religion, if we practice paganism but don't we all? Don't we all celebrate Christmas Day and Easter? Don't we all believe in the Holy Spirit? In regards to our devotion and prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary, well, it is only right to love and respect the Blessed Virgin Mary the same way Jesus Christ loves and respects her. We love her the same way we love our mother. We pray the rosary for the salvation of souls including our own. We are praying in repetition not because God does not hear us right away. He heard us the first time. The rest of the prayers are meant for us. We are asking for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels and saints not only to save us but to protect, guide and bless us at all times. As for the scandals, we are only humans. We are not free from sin and that includes not just priests, but pastors and other religious leaders too.

I have great respect for other people's religion. I have several friends who belongs to different religion. I have several friends who does not belong to other any religion as well. We are free to go to any church we want. But I only go to the Roman Catholic church. I always felt at home whenever I see the pews, the attractive wall lantern fixture adorning the entry ways, the images of the angels and saints, the altar and the tabernacle which houses the Eucharist. Others may not find the Roman Catholic agreeable and since our religion cannot save us why change?

What Man Needs To Survive

Oftentimes you hear people say that there is no place like home or home sweet home. For it is only in the security and comfort of our homes where we can be ourselves. No pretensions. No reservations. No awkward moments. It is only in our home where we can shed the mask that we oftentimes use to face the world. 

Other than food and clothing, shelter is also one of the basic needs of man in order to survive. Yet you see a lot of homeless and starving people every where. People who are living in the streets and begging for alms. People who are depending in the charity of others. Being poor is not bad, but when you are not doing anything to alleviate your financial status and keeps blaming the government for your poor financial status then you need to reevaluate your self. Wanting to improve your lifestyle is not wrong unless you step on other people and use them for your personal gain or do something against the law just to achieve it. Notable people like Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, Genghis Khan, the founder and the emperor of the Mongol Empire, Manny Pacquiao, a Filipino professional boxer and politician, and Oprah Winfrey, a philanthropist and the talk show host of the multi-award-winning talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, were not born with a silver spoon yet they rise above everyone because of their strong characters, hard works and beliefs. 

With money, you can all the things you need. You will have food to eat, clothes to wear and a roof above your head. You can hire the best architect to design the house of your dreams with outdoor wall lights lining up your patio and a large garden where you can enjoy an outdoor meal with your love ones.

There is nothing more important than the life, health and safety of our love ones and family. Everyday of our lives, we always make sure that we give only the best to them. They are the reasons for all our hard-works and perseverance. It is probably one of the reasons why some people go nuts because they have no one to offer the fruits of their labor. They felt unloved.

They say that nobody is fundamentally evil and yet you hear news about someone killing another. Something is not right somewhere. But base on other people's opinions, people do something bad because they grew up without the love of a family. They experienced cruelty and criticisms while growing up either from their family, from those they considered as one, from their love ones. While others say that people becomes bad because they decide to become bad. Sure, we are given the freedom or freewill to choose between good and evil but remember choosing to become evil has a price unless the perpetrator claims insanity based on the law of men. But what about the law of heaven? On the other hand, some people claims that no matter how bad or evil a person is, there is always something good in him that needs to be rehabilitated. Remember the penitent thief in the Bible? 

Sure, the world is dangerous. There is always the fear of losing the ones we love. All we have to do is pray that nothing bad will happen to them. We also have to ensure that we give them a safe haven by making sure that our homes are equipped with functional alarm system and we should be using only UL listed wall lamps and luminaries and electronic appliances. It does not matter if we spend thousands of dollars to keep our family and love ones safe. Remember that we can always earn the money back but not the lives of the ones we love.
